Meet Umar – A Seasoned Chartered Accountant and Forensic Accounting Expert
Umar is a seasoned chartered accountant with over two decades of extensive experience, mainly focused on forensic accounting. After graduating from Leeds University, Umar honed his investigative skills at BDO Binder Hamlyn. Driven by innate curiosity, he moved to Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC), where he spent two years specialising in forensic technology as an IT auditor, collaborating with industry titans such as Pilkington Glass plc.
Internal Auditor to Managing Partner
Umar further developed his forensic acumen as an internal auditor for Akzo Nobel, immersing himself in complex financial investigations. He later established a part-time accountancy practice that merged with Jack Ross Chartered Accountants in 1999. By 2002, as an audit partner, Umar was deeply engaged in forensic audits, financial fraud detection, and litigation support whilst providing expert advice on corporate tax planning.
Leadership with a Forensic Lens
Assuming the role of Managing Partner in 2004, Umar’s leadership has been underpinned by a forensic lens, emphasising meticulous financial investigations and ensuring clients’ financial integrity. While his digital transformation initiatives, such as championing the firm’s adaptation to Making Tax Digital (MTD), have been commendable, Umar’s true skill lies in harnessing technology for forensic accounting, guaranteeing rigorous and accurate financial analysis.
